I am a Florida resident and i  am outraged that they took over 20 million dollars for a profit organization to lay the groundwork for a profit organization to  make money!~that we could have they can spend money in other areas .. they put in 30 foot medians to support the roads, the very expensive decorative  light posts are already lowered to go under the bridge.. we could have let them foot the bill and spent it on education!  it is not right and if they need to widen the road they can take out the median!~ we paid for it!  this is conspiracy!  i agree with Bill W.’s letter!

Have they gone mad!. Not one but two roundabouts. This surely is the icing on the cake.

The majority of us residents are opposed to this elevated roadway. It is going to look horrible and will do little to help Gandy’s rush hour traffic issues.
I went to a public meeting regarding this project at Monroe Middle School a couple of weeks ago hosted by THEA. On the way there I decided to take Gandy to see how long it took to get down this congested street. When I crossed over Dale Mabry (heading west) traffic came to a stop under the expressway overpass. The clock in my car read 5:41. When I got to West Shore, the last traffic light before the bridge, it read 5:51. That’s ten minutes. In non rush hour traffic it would take one minute if you hit every light green (which is an anomaly), but if you are stopped by at least one red light (which is almost guaranteed) it will take you around three to four minutes. My point is that the traffic may be bad during rush hour, but is it so terribly unacceptable that the neighborhood be defaced by a very un-neighborhood-like structure that is not wanted by the people who use the busy street the most? Is spending hundreds of millions of dollars to build an ugly, unwanted concrete structure while subjecting us to years of additional construction worth saving a few minutes of drive time during rush hour times? I don’t think so, and neither does the majority of us residents in the immediate vicinity.
I hope you agree, and if so any support you can lend us would be tremendous. This roadway will be an ugly price to pay to get so little in return. Hopefully our voices will be heard and our neighborhood street will be left feeling and looking like a neighborhood street.
